I want to start off by saying that this is a very personal subject for me. I lost my partner Randy to ALS earlier this year. He bravely fought the disease for nine years. He was just 42 years old. Also, my dear high school friend Stephanie died this summer after fighting breast cancer for many years. As you can imagine, this has had a profound impact on my life. And, as a marketer, it is hard to bridge the two worlds because this is so personal. But to fight horrible diseases, you need to do whatever it takes in order to help find a cure.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer – Yes We Did! The Pink PANthers raise over $7,000

Last August, PAN Communications began to put a team together and raise money for the 2010 American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. PAN is very proud to have sponsored this walk and be part of such a successful day for the American Cancer Society. Over $3 million was raised from Sunday’s walk in Boston.
In public relations, we all work in teams to reach goals for our clients. When various members of the PAN staff came together to raise money as a team to help fight the war against breast cancer, we not only succeeded in our goal, but continued to raise the bar over and over again. Each member of the team has been touched by cancer and each wanted to walk in memory or in honor of those affected. Our PAN colleagues cheered us on and donated as well. As of today, the Pink PANthers have raised over $7,000.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer – Yes We Will

On Wednesday, August 11, I had the chance to attend the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer kick-off breakfast, which PAN is a sponsor for. Talk about an emotionally charged and inspirational morning! The event was held in the beautiful State Room in downtown Boston, and TV News Anchor Anne Allred (7News) and Radio Personality Candy O’Terry (MAGIC 106.7) were the fabulous hosts. We heard from breast cancer survivors, leaders in the medical community, and people whose lives have been touched by cancer. We heard many touching stories – one minute you were laughing, the next minute you were crying. Each survivor who spoke had such strength, and such a positive attitude and outlook on life – it was simply contagious. The best part was that everyone in that room was gathered for one reason – to raise money and fight breast cancer. It was truly powerful.
