The more and more I meet with clients, partners and others that have some sort of ownership of the marketing function, the more I get the feeling that PR is really dying. I am seeing (and others are in agreement) less and less value gained out of basic media relations and PR today. When I say that, I am referring to PR and media relations in the most literal sense. If an organization is looking to expand its market awareness, brand recognition, thought leadership or product placement, this is not the way to do it anymore and if you are hearing more and more about an “integrated approach,” you need to listen and take the time to learn a bit more of what is going on right in front of us. We touched on this subject earlier this year and over the past five-months we’ve seen an increase in a more integrated, strategic approach to our clients’ business.
