Last week I was having dinner with a friend and, as it always does, the conversation turned to our jobs. Now, I always tend to ask my friends what’s new with them first which in turn provides a great jumping off point for additional digressions and fodder during dinner. So we were about 12 minutes into my friend discussing the various plays and musicals he was considering for his theatre’s 2012 season (he’s an artistic director) when I stupidly made a bad PR joke.
Me: You know Rob, it would be so much easier for directors if these script companies could just prepare briefing materials (b-mats) on their plays so you wouldn’t have to read the whole script/the playwright’s bio to determine if it’s a fit for subscribers.
