Like many people, I have been closely following the introduction of Google+, the new eponymous social network. Unlike the majority of people, I haven't been clamoring for my Google+ invite (though I wouldn't mind one, readers…), but rather have been interested in seeing how long it will take before a client will ask how they can take advantage of the new digital channel from a public relations perspective. When I first started in public relations in - ahem - 2001, the inevitable question at every new business meeting or client kick off was, "how long will it take you to get us into the Wall Street Journal?" Fast forward 10 years, and the refrain has changed; now the question on every company's mind is, "how long will it take before I reach 1,000 followers on Twitter?" The question has changed, but the sentiment remains the same - what can organizations do to ensure that the most people are hearing about their companies?
