When I began my PR Communications internship I was eager to put the skills I learned in school to good use. On the first day of my internship I was handed a training binder that outlined everything I would be doing along with a list of five clients. Although it was a bit overwhelming, I was ready for the challenge. I took a deep breath and with some help from my team, I knew everything would be okay. 

No one saw this one coming.

Let’s face it: not a single person predicted the Boston Bruins would win the Stanley Cup in 2011. So when they hoisted Lord Stanley’s Cup on enemy Vancouver ice on a balmy mid-June night, it just did not compute.

After all, the last time the Boston Bruins raised the Cup, Kevin White ruled City Hall, Whitey Bulger prowled Boston’s gritty streets and disco was still a distant vision.
