Why PAN? - PAN Communications

2015_BBJBestPlacesLove what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life.

How do we provide one of the best workplaces in Boston? We ensure our employees have all the necessary elements to love their job and their life, in and outside of work. That means providing a challenging, rewarding role; visionary clients that are true partners to their teams; and coworkers that genuinely care about your growth and you as a person. It also means having managers that trust you and allow for independence in your daily job, but are never more than a few steps away to provide guidance and support.

Wellness

Mind, body and soul.

Our employee wellness program, PANFIT, is on its third year, and we couldn’t be more proud. For us, wellness is about more than being physically fit or healthy. Our holistic approach to employee wellness takes into account all facets of individual wellness. Road races, yoga sessions, homebuying and financial fitness seminars, healthy eating challenges, employee cook-offs, weekly educational emails, wellness fairs, massage days, sports tournaments…the list goes on and on.

Training & Development

Whether you’re just entering the workforce or a 20-year industry veteran, one thing is for sure – there is always more to learn. Our approach to training and development is simple and effective.

  • No black and white programs here. Every employee has a unique learning style and pace. We take this into account by creating programs that are tailored by specialty, level and individual needs.
  • Listen to your employees. Every year, our HR team partners with PANU co-chairs from the PR staff to design a curriculum that is largely inspired by the staff’s feedback.
  • Everyone is a teacher. Our monthly training sessions are led by junior staff, VPs, guest speakers, our finance team, an industry analyst, a tech reporter, and the list goes on.
  • Flexibility and diversity are key. Our shared resource model allows  for every employee to work with and learn from a wide array of direct reports, managers and coworkers, all with different styles, backgrounds and skills. This makes for a better, more-well rounded learning experience.
  • Be open and stay ahead of the times. The PR industry is constantly changing and it is imperative that we evolve with it. Our T&D programs reflect this.

Ask any employee what one of their favorite things about PAN is and you will often hear a similar answer – every hit is celebrated, every win cheered loudly and credit is always given where it is due. Employee-Focused Approach

“The head of HR personally asks us what we’re most passionate about, interested in and educated on, and then works with management to align accounts based on feedback received. This speaks volumes and makes clients happier because they’re working with a team that is fully ingrained in their business and industry. It also makes employees happier to work that much harder and diligently on an account.” – Caitlyn Keating, Account Supervisor

Pigeonholing is defined as assigning to a particular category or class, especially in a manner that is too rigid or exclusive. Thanks to our employee-focused shared resource model, pigeonholing is not part of PAN’s vocabulary. We believe that employees that are given the choice to work on what they are passionate about are happier, more productive employees.

The proof is in the pudding. Look at our mid and senior-level ranks and you’ll find many employees who have grown with us throughout the years and are still excited about what the future holds for them at PAN. You’ll find staff working not just on accounts they love, but also actively involved in internal initiatives that ignite their passions for mentorship, marketing, digital media or event planning.

Our individualized approach extends beyond account assignments. We recognize how important it is to have a senior-level mentor guiding your development, asking and answering the right questions, listening to your concerns. This is why we assign every employee, regardless of level, to a dedicated Vice President. Your dedicated VP is in tune with your career goals, meets with you regularly, serves as your career liaison and ensures you always know where you stand by providing regular feedback.
